Your First Session

Taking the first step into therapy can feel daunting — especially if you’ve never done it before. My aim is to make the process simple, transparent, and free from jargon, so you always know what to expect.

Think of it as a journey we take together: we start with a quick chat to see if we’re the right fit, take time in the first session to understand your story, and then move into regular sessions at a pace that feels manageable for you. There’s no pressure — just space for you to be heard, supported, and gently guided.

How It Works

  1. Free Introductory Call
We’ll begin with a free 10-minute phone call. This is a chance for us to briefly chat about what you’re looking for, and for you to get a feel for whether I’m the right therapist for you.

  2. Assessment Session
Your first appointment is a 1.15-hour assessment session. We’ll take time to explore your background, what’s brought you to therapy, and what you’d like to achieve. This longer session gives us both a solid starting point.

  3. Ongoing Sessions
After the assessment, we’ll move into 50-minute sessions. These are usually held weekly, but we can discuss what works best for you. Regular sessions help build trust and momentum.

  4. Length of Therapy
There’s no one-size-fits-all. Some people come for a handful of sessions to work through something specific, while others prefer longer-term therapy for deeper support. We’ll review together as we go to make sure it’s meeting your needs.
